Keyrats invade Gainesville this Weekend

This weekend, in Gainesville, there’s some exciting stuff going down. First and foremost, UM will be playing UF. Because of the occasion, hundreds of Miami fans are coming up to watch the game and to party or sulk, depending on the outcome.

The Keyrats, seeing as so many of their fans will be about, will be playing not once but twice during the weekend. Here it is straight from the source:

FRIDAY NIGHT- Froggy’s Midnight Tailgate @ Silver Q. Forget the midtown madness, this is the best Friday night around.
Downstairs- The KEYRATS will be setting the mood as Gainesville’s best pool bar party pops off. Upstairs- DJ WillBuck and DJ Peekay will be tearing it down in the Peach Pit.

SATURDAY DAYTIME - Orange & Blue Bloc Party @ Links
By far the best outdoor tailgate in Gainesville. Located 100 ft from the stadium on University Ave!!!!! The KEYRATS will be playing throughout the afternoon. The party will feature
-8 LCD TV’s
-6 Beertubs
-10 bartenders
-DJ WillBuck

So, for all of those going up to Gainesville to support the Canes or the Gators, come party with the KEYRATS all weekend long!!!!

More Keyrats shows this weekend

I remember a time when Keyrats shows were few and far between; not anymore (which is great, btw). This weekend they’re tearing it up again. First at Cefalo’s on Friday night, then at the Boardwalk Tavern on Saturday night. I think these Keyrats shows might be the only reason to even go out to the Grove anymore.

It’s a Keyrats Weekend

The Keyrats are playing not one, but two shows on Saturday.

The first is during the day, at a little local music festival called Festidan. It’ll take place from noon to sunset on Saturday the 23rd, and also feature Outereach, Day Music Died, The Kut, Jimmy Whisper, and 2am.

Then, just in case you’re busy during the day, at night the Keyrats will be playing at Dolce in Miami Beach. The place is located at 15th and Ocean Drive, so come check it out.

Keyrats schedule for the week

I just got this message from Keyrats manager Chris Fong. The rats will be playing 3 shows in the next week, so now there’s no excuses for not being able to make it.

Just to update you all on our busy schedule:

Saturday night 6/14: Boardwalk Tavern, Coconut Grove Fundraiser for Cancer

Tuesday afternoon 6/17: Greenstreet, Coconut Grove; Drink specials from 7-11pm

Friday night 6/20: Cefalo’s, Coconut Grove; Great party

Keyrats Live at Cefalo’s again this Friday 6/6

In case you missed it when they played their little acoustic set last Friday, the Keyrats are playing again at Cefalo’s in the Grove. Everyone I got to talk to said it was a good time, and I think people were even hoping it was going to be a regular thing. For them and for all of you who missed it, it’s not a bad Friday night.

On a related note, I’ve heard that Mike, the bassist, is leaving the Keyrats. He’s taking a job in Naples, and will continue to play with the rats on and off until a proper replacement is found. Not exactly the best news, but sometimes these things happen. Even though Alex is the driving force behind the Keyrats, I always felt Mike played a big part in defining some of the Keyrats’ more wacky, party loving style. On the backend of things he also contributed a lot to keeping the rats focused and organized. We all wish him the best, and hope he comes back to play a show or two in the future.

KeyRats Live at Cefalo’s Friday

Been jonesing for some KeyRats? This Friday they’ll be playing live at Cefalo’s in the Grove. From what I understand it’ll be a happy hour type of event, from 8pm to midnight. The KeyRats will be playing acoustic (whatever that means) and will be playing a mix of originals and covers.

I heard the last happy hour event in Grove Isle went pretty well, so don’t be reluctant to pass by and see what’s going on.

Keyrats Live at Grove Isle

The Keyrats are playing a little function in grove isle this Friday afternoon. The event is a party for a Miami based business networking organization; it’s kind of a like a business card swap type thing, from what I gather. There’ll be an open bar from 6-7pm, and the whole thing ends at 10pm. Might be a welcome change to your usual happy hour. [Map]

Keyrats Live! Regatta Kicker!

Ever year that the Key Biscayne Regatta has taken place, the Keyrats have rocked a packed show to go along with it. This year the show is going to be at BED on Friday, March 14th. The whole thing starts around 10:30pm. After the last show at BED I think I ended up on the side of the road on the Rickenbacker causeway at 5am, if that’s any indication of how crazy it was.

Just listen to this and tell me how it’s not going to be awesome.
