The Purple Car Wash

Don’t go to the purple car wash. You may think you want to go to the purple car wash, but you really don’t. “It’s so easy, though. I just walk through the tunnel and when I walk out, my car is nice and clean.” I know. That’s what they want you to believe.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the purple car wash is a car wash that’s on US-1, right around Bird road. A couple of years ago, this was one of the better car washes in Miami. It was fast and convenient, and left your car as clean as you would expect for the price. Somewhere along the line the management must’ve switched.

Now the place looks the same, but instead of clean, your car leaves the lot dirty at the end. Don’t ask me how they do it, because it really takes talent. See, you watch them clean it, and up to the point where you sit in your car, you really think they’re doing a great job. But then you get in and you’re hurried to drive away, and the problems begin. Your whole dashboard is still covered in dust, no one wiped it down even once. Once you notice that and try and tell yourself it’s not a big deal, you start seeing streaks of water pour down all the windows, because they didn’t dry it enough. You get a little fired up, but you let it slide. Once you get home you look at the car and it can still pass as just washed…barely. Then you look at your shiny clean rims, and realize that they only cleaned the faces, and looking from an angle reveals dirt everywhere.

Don’t go to the purple car wash.
