Jkrunk's Birthday Krunkfest

If you're up for a little traveling next weekend (or you live in Gainesville), Jkrunk will be celebrating his birthday with a huge jam filled with kegs and debauchery. As always, the party takes place at the 112 house, and everyone's invited. It's all going down on Friday, November 2nd. Therte's no band this time around, but if you're in a band that would like to play the party, speak up.
The Toners

My friend, and fellow rat, Alex Hernandez made this short movie about a reggaeton band, and they've released the first short. The movie is a mockumentary documenting the life of an aspiring reggaeton band who has little talent.

I thought it was pretty funny. I think the plan is to make a full movie out of this, but for now you can check out the short right here.

The Toners

A Short Reggaeton Mockumentary...

"The Toners" are Che-Frio, Tito, and Laz--three extremely ambitious, but equally untalented, working class heroes from Miami who quit their day jobs to pursue Reggaeton super-stardom.

Written & Directed by Marco Ramirez
Produced by Alex Fumero
Edited by Matt Berkowitz

Starring...
THE TONERS
CHE-FRIO (Alex Fumero), TITO (Danny Monsalve), and LAZ (Marco Ramirez)

Ultimate Sir Pizza Item

So recently my friend Jauregui started getting creative over at Sir Pizza. If you know Sir Pizza, you know they haven't put anything new on the menu since they opened, but that doesn't mean you can't order things that aren't on the menu.

The item in queston involves the garlic peperroni cheese bread. Order it, but ask them to put some tomato sauce under the cheese. The garlic bread is now its own mini pizza. It's almost like the Sir Pizza equivalent of ordering two slices. Wanna swicth it up even further? Get tomato slices instead of tomato sauce.

The other thing I've heard is pretty good is getting Worchestershire sauce put in the tomato sauce when they're making a pizza, though I haven't verified this myself.

Columbus Day Regatta

So, as you all may be aware, the Columbus Day Regatta is this weekend. What's a little odd is that I haven't heard much hype around the whole thing. Maybe it's because of how far it is, or how much police there is, or how complicated it is to find a good spot and then coincide with your friends. All I know is that all these little factors begin to rain on the party.

That said, it's almost obligational that you head out there and check it out, just in case the party turns out to be spectacular. You wouldn't want to be the guy who missed it when everyone's talking about it for the rest of the year.

If you do plan on heading out, make sure you're careful out there. We wouldn't want to read about you here.

Across the Universe

As
long as I can remember I have been fascinated by the turbulent rich and
soul inspiring decade of the 1960s. The historical significance of
these ten years mark the most important and influential times in
American history. I would give up anything to have been a child growing
up with all the hope and innocence of the 1950s followed by fierce
adolescent outrage facing the ills of an unpopular war, civil
rights, JFK and MLK. The fact is that those who were growing up
during this era witnessed the country go through that very same
progression of youth to adulthood. The Beatles were the soundtrack for
many Americans during this time. From their mop-top poppy early tunes
on the Ed Sullivan Show, experimentation with LSD and of course their
role in the late sixty’s protesting Vietnam; they basically raised many
of our parents through a unpredictable and important time in America.
The Beatles were both of my parents' introduction when they came to NYC
from Colombia in the sixties and early 70s, so its only fair that
they sparked my interest in it as well.

Virginia Key Kidnapping Attempt

Monday morning, at around 5am, a woman who was jogging on the Rickenbacker Causeway escaped from four would-be kidnappers. The kidnappers, four guys around 20 years old, had a gun, ductape, and rope ready. The woman managed to escape and the four men were arrested at the Marine Stadium, where one of them had scratch marks on his face from what is thought to be a previous kidnapping attempt.

My question is, what the hell had to happen to you in your life that at 20 years old you think it a good life choice to be kidnapping people with your friends?

[via Miami Herald]
Skylift Tourist Gimmick!

It looks like a Doppler radar when it's on the ground, but this balloon will climb a couple of hundred feet to give an aerial view of Miami on a floating observation deck. Not sure about any more details. You can check out the site here: http://miamiskylift.com
NVousPC

I have to give a plug for my friend and fellow rat, Juan P, who together with Oscar Zapata (formerly of Alienware) have just recently started NVousPC, which lets you buy personalized laptops or lets you personalize the laptop you already have.

At a time when all the big computer makers already stylize their laptops, NVousPC is letting you take it one step further as you get to completely personalize a laptop for yourself. This isn't some sticker-job either; the laptop will include whatever images you want, on whichever sides of the laptop you want, and it'll all look like it was stock from the factory.

If you're packing one of those new MacBook Pros, or a similar laptop, NVousPC is also going to be offering laser engraving, which gives your new lappy a more subtle touch.

The possibilities are endless, as you can give them the art you want, or you can describe what you want and they'll make it for you. Just check out some of these examples and mockups I made, and after that go to the NVousPC site and check out their gallery of design ideas.

Also, hit read more to see a video of NVousPC featured on FOX News.
